Can I edit or delete a review I wrote?+
Yes. Go to your Dashboard → My Reviews, find the review, and click Edit or Delete. Edits are logged and the review may re-enter moderation. Deleted reviews are permanently removed within 24 hours.
How do I get a Verified Stay badge on my review?+
Upload proof of your booking (confirmation email, receipt, or screenshot) through the Verify Your Stay page. We strip financial data and only keep stay dates. The badge appears within minutes of verification.
My review was removed — why?+
Reviews are removed if they violate our Community Guidelines — personal attacks, fake reviews, or content unrelated to the rental experience. You'll receive an email explaining the reason. You can appeal within 14 days by contacting us via the Contact tab.
Can a host remove my review?+
No. Hosts cannot delete or suppress reviews. They can only respond publicly. If a host believes a review is fake or violates our guidelines, they can flag it for our team to investigate — but the decision is always ours, not the host's.
How long does it take for my review to be published?+
Most reviews are published within a few minutes after passing our automated check. Reviews flagged for manual review may take up to 24 hours. You'll receive an email confirmation once published.
How do I add a listing that doesn't exist on NookRate?+
Use our Add a Listing page. Enter the address, property type, and any details you know. It takes about 3 minutes and earns you 20 community points. Listings go live within 24 hours after a quick review.
There's incorrect information on a listing — how do I fix it?+
If you're the host, claim the listing via the Host Dashboard to update details directly. If you're a renter, use the Report button on the listing page to flag the inaccuracy and our team will investigate.
Can I request a listing be removed?+
Listings can be removed if they no longer exist, contain seriously inaccurate information, or violate our guidelines. Contact us via the Contact tab with the listing URL and reason. We review all removal requests within 5 business days.
How do photos get added to a listing?+
Any reviewer can upload photos and videos from their stay via the Write a Review flow or directly on the listing page. Claimed hosts can also upload official listing photos. All media is reviewed before going live.
How do I delete my account?+
Go to Dashboard → Privacy & Security → Delete Account. Your personal data is removed within 30 days. Your published reviews are anonymized rather than deleted to preserve the integrity of the review record.
I forgot my password — how do I reset it?+
Click "Forgot password?" on the Sign In page. We'll send a reset link to your registered email address. The link expires after 1 hour. If you don't receive the email, check your spam folder.
Can I change my display name?+
Yes. Go to Dashboard → Profile Settings and update your display name. Your existing reviews will show the new name going forward. Name changes are limited to once every 30 days.
How do I export my data?+
You can request a full data export from Dashboard → Privacy & Security → Download My Data. We'll email you a downloadable archive within 48 hours containing all your reviews, saved listings, and account information.
How do I cancel my subscription?+
Go to Dashboard → Profile Settings → Subscription → Cancel Plan. Your plan stays active until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees, no questions asked.
Will I get a refund if I cancel?+
We offer a full refund within the first 30 days of any paid plan — no questions asked. After 30 days, refunds are considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact us via the Contact tab with your account email and reason.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, and Google Pay. All payments are processed securely through Stripe. NookRate never stores your card details.
I was charged incorrectly — what do I do?+
Contact us immediately via the Contact tab, selecting "Billing Issue" as the topic. Include your account email and the charge amount. We investigate all billing disputes within 2 business days and issue corrections or refunds as appropriate.
How does NookRate detect fake reviews?+
We use a combination of automated pattern detection and manual review. Signals include account age, review velocity, IP patterns, device fingerprinting, and linguistic analysis. Reviews from accounts showing suspicious patterns are held for manual review before publication.
Can a host pay to have negative reviews removed?+
Absolutely not. No amount of money can remove a review that complies with our guidelines. NookRate's value depends entirely on review integrity — any commercial arrangement that compromised that would destroy the platform. Our monetization (host subscriptions, affiliate links) is completely separate from review decisions.
How do I report a review I think is fake?+
Use the Report tab above, or click the flag icon (⚑) on any review. Select "Fake or incentivized review" and provide any supporting context. Our Trust team investigates all reports within 48 hours.
Is my personal information safe on NookRate?+
Yes. We never sell your data. Your email address is never publicly visible. Reviews are attributed to your display name only. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
How do I claim my listing?+
Go to the listing page and click "Claim This Listing", or visit the Host Dashboard. You'll need to verify your email and optionally upload proof of ownership. Claims are reviewed within 24 hours.
Can I respond to reviews as a host?+
Yes — with a Host Pro subscription. Responses are public and visible to all future renters. You get one response per review, and responses can't be edited after 7 days. This is one of the most impactful things you can do for your reputation.
A review contains false information about my property — what can I do?+
First, respond publicly to provide your side of the story — future renters will see both. If the review contains provably false factual claims (wrong address, wrong dates, etc.), contact us via the Report tab. We can add a factual correction note but will not remove reviews based on host disagreement alone.
How does featured placement work?+
Featured placement is available on the Property Manager plan. Your listing appears at the top of relevant search results with a clearly visible "Sponsored" label. Review rankings and scores are never affected by paid placement.
